Start courseThe term self-esteem is used to describe the beliefs we hold about ourselves. When we start to think critically about ourselves, doubting our abilities and self-worth, these beliefs can start to negatively impact on our lives and in turn cause feelings of low self-esteem. Feelings of low self-esteem bring a range of negative emotions including sadness, anxiety, shame, as well as a number of physical symptoms such as tiredness, tension, nausea and heart palpitations.
Using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy methods and techniques, we will help you to identify and challenge some of the unhelpful thoughts and behaviours that often develop as a result of low self-esteem. We will explore techniques to build your self-esteem through developing assertiveness skills, identifying and accepting your positive qualities and challenging negative beliefs about yourself. This might feel like an impossible task, but there are a lot of different techniques you can try to help you and these will be covered throughout the sessions.
We understand that whilst taking part in these sessions people may require answers to questions that they have, to assist with their learning.
